Through management of investments made while at Vanderbilt University, the TriStar team has been founding and investing in healthcare innovation for the last 10 years. Over that period of time, the TriStar principals helped create and invest in 30 companies based on Vanderbilt intellectual property.
The financial returns from these investments were significant, having exceeded the average venture returns over that period by a sizable margin. The experience of creating companies, negotiating licensing and operating agreements within the university environment uniquely and ideally suits the TriStar team to execute its strategy going forward.
Additionally, Dr. Jacobson has been a successful entrepreneur, having founded or co-founded 10 different companies, including Contact Software, Renal Care Group, Ambulatory Services of America, and CeloNova Biosciences.
Our Investment Advisory Board and broad network of companies and investors brings immense depth across the range of contemplated investment sectors. Finally, we have created an advisory board of technology transfer directors from across the state to help us ensure the startup needs of the state institutions are being met.
